Presentation: "Forces Influencing New Jersey Migration"
Charles Steindel is Chief Economist of the New Jersey Department of the Treasury. He came to the Treasury in November 2010 after a long career at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where he was a Senior Vice President. Prior to working at the New York Fed, he was employed by the First National Bank of Chicago and the Federal Reserve Board. At the New York Fed he played a leading role in producing U.S. economic forecasts and in monetary policy advice.
He has served as president of the Money Marketeers of New York University, the Forecasters Club of New York, and the New York Association for Business Economics, and has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association for Business Economics. He recently received the William F. Butler Award from the New York Association for Business Economics. In addition, he is a member of the panel for the Survey of Professional Forecasters, and the Committee on Research in Income and Wealth, and has published many articles in fields ranging from consumer spending and economic measurement to regional economics. He received his bachelor's degree from Emory University and his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
